Lower frequencies improved tremendously with Afeo Panel Traps installed across corners as Bass Traps.

*Afeo Panel Traps are tested at Western Eletro - Acoustic Laboratory California

Important Note :-

Only Frequencies in dark grey area is ASTM certified test report data, No Test Lab in United State are certified to report absorption data below 100Hz. These uncertified data (light grey area) will varies greatly from Lab to Lab and un-stable. Use only certified data when comparing with other acoustic products.

WHY ACOUSTIC TREATMENT IS A MUST

All non acoustically optimized rooms will face problems of flutter echoes and room resonance known as “standing waves”. These tremendously reduce your enjoyment of music, ruin your creative works, and result in poor sound quality regardless of the equipment used.

Problems caused by Flutter Echoes :-
1. Loss of Sound Images.
2. Sound blurred by too much reverberation.
3. Ear fatigue.
4. Metallic sound.
Problems caused by Standing Waves :-

1. Muddy bass.
2. Chipmunk mix.
3. Problematic speaker positioning.
4. Boomy listening room.
5. No clear definition between bass and bass drum.
6. Mixing will not be transferable.
7. Misleading EQ implementation.

These are problems that cannot be solved by any electronic device of any kind regarding prices. They should only be fixed with acoustic treatment !

Treat your room with AfeoPanel for a higher authentic sounding environment and a pleasurable creative experience !

MODES

MODES are the pathways between reflective surfaces which the sound waves travel back and forth and finally returning to it’s starting point. The frequencies of these sound waves is called Modal frequencies, and the Modal Frequencies of a room are determined by it’s size and geometry shape.

There are Axial, Tangential and Oblique Mode as shown at Fig. 1 below.
Due to sound waves hitting more multiple surfaces, energy decrease significantly, thus the amount of alteration to the natural sound by Tangential and Oblique Mode is much easier to correct than Axial Mode.(Standing wave)
STANDING WAVE

Standing Waves is a kind of Mode. When sound wave return in phase to its starting point, the energy will build up, and resonate continuously between two reflective surfaces, STANDING WAVE occurs.

Standing Waves create resonate to a room ( especially at low frequencies ) and the room response becomes position sensitive both for the sound source (such as speakers or instrument etc..... ) and the receiver (such as microphone or Listener etc..... ), making speakers, Mic and/or listening position placement difficult.
We will hear bass level changes from place to place when we walk around a room, and Speakers placing at various position sounding so different. All Low Frequencies standing waves are our No.1 enemy and they must be smoothed out by Acoustic Treatment.
COINCIDENCE MODE
If a room with identical dimension Length, and Width, they yield the same set of Modal Frequencies, this doubling of frequencies is called Coincidence Mode.
Music or sound play in this room will have a very imbalance Frequencies respond, Frequencies coincided with the coincidence modal frequencies will sound much louder than others frequencies, and these must be corrected by Acoustical Treatment.
REFLECTIONS AND FLUTTER ECHO (COMB FILTER)
Reflections from Walls, Floor and Ceiling will seriously BLUR out the stereo images. If reflections reach the receiver ( Listener or Mic ) with less than 30ms of delay time, usually caused by reflective surfaces within 8 to 10 meters distance from the sound source. Comb filter distortion will be produced, resulting a metallic sound and ear fatigue. And improper reverberation time will ruin all recording.
Above Fig. shown only simplified reflections behavior of the left speakers, in real life they are much more complicated, but fortunately Reflections, Flutter echoes and Reverberation can be controlled by placing right amount of acoustic treatment at right positions will solve all these problems effectively.
Afeo modular design will add diffusion to your room, preventing your room sounding too dead.
Why Diffusion !
