Q. What is acoustic treatment? |
|
A. Let's put it very simple :
1. Acoustic treatment is to absorb unwanted reflections within a room, so listener can enjoy true direct sound from a recording and/or play back system. Clearer sound field and better sound imaging.
2. Balance frequencies within a room by making low, mid and high frequency die away at the same time ( Flat respond ), eliminate room sound, like boomy room, because bass frequency fade away much slower than high frequency. Creating a room with Flat respond is extremely important for mixing, tracking and all serious listening area such as home theater and music hall etc. - Pls. visit acoustic info page for more details ! |

Q. There are different sound control products of Ming. What and how many should I use? |
A. For a small room of 3m x 4m (10ft x16ft ), you can start with 2 to 4 corner bass traps, then 4 to 6 broadband absorption for front, rear, two side walls and ceiling to smooth out frequencies responds and eliminate unwanted reflection ( Flutter echoes ). For better result, install more Bass traps for corners and panels for ceiling.- Please visit installation page for details! |

Q. Why MING is better than others acoustic products? |
A. The answer is Uniqueness and Effectiveness. Pls. read on.
1. Unique outlook with effective acoustic performance. You may find other effective acoustic products but they may all look the same, or you may find some fancy looking acoustic products with unacceptable performance. For "MING Products". Acoustic perfection is just one of our goals. Aesthetics in our arts & crafts design is equally important. As stated at our Home page.
2. Right Density of acoustic material used to ensure linear absorption, too low in density will only absorb higher frequencies, on the other hand, too high the density will turn them into narrow band trap, good only in one single (low) frequency but bad on all others frequencies. Narrow band panel should be used in some specific situation advised by pro acoustician. As a commercial product, broadband is the best choice. |
|
Q. What is a diffuser? And where we put them? |
A. A diffuser is used to reflect (diffuse) sound in a wider angle to form a wider listening sweet spot, Diffusers create nice ambient for tracking and keep your room from sounding too dead. For a bigger live room, you can place them almost anywhere, its' depending on how much diffusion you wanted. For a mixing room, put them on rear wall behind the engineer, - Pls. visit here for details ! |
|
Q. If I can only afford 4 panels, where should I place them? |
A. Case 1. Using 4 panels is not enough for proper room acoustic treatment. If this is your only choice for now. Get 2 bass traps for corners and 2 panels for front wall and rear wall. Use whatever material, like foam, drape, or wall carpet to control reflection. But remember, they're effective only for higher frequencies, the result may still be a dead and muddy sounding room ! Anyway, this is just a suggestion for temporary treatment. You should replace these thin materials with Ming as soon as possible.
Case 2. By using only 2 or more panels, you may create a small acoustic place for Vocal and/or instrument tracking, they help music practicing too ! |
|
Q. Why corners are so important ? |
A. Cause all room modes meet at corners, mode is our no.1 enemy. Treating corners is the first priority of all Pros. |
|
Q. Would it be better if placing panels very close to each others ? |
A. No! You don't have to. Some Zen Panels absorb sound from all 4 sides of the frame too and Ming's modular design help in diffusing sound. Diffusion prevents a room from sounding too dead, so leave space between panels. But if you want a dead room you can place them close together. |
